My favorite of the Gouramies. It's the perfect large fish for a medium sized tank. Slow, graceful, peaceful and it is a joy to keep. The only reason I would say it needs moderate care is because of the size of this fish and the fact that it will get aggressive if kept alone. So take some responsibility and follow these two rules of Snakeskin keeping: 300 L and at least 5 of them. They eat just about anything from flake to cichlid pellets. Good community tank fish, as well as companions for some of the less aggressive cichlids. Of all the gouramies, you'll never have one that is easier to care for than the snakeskin. They are omnnivorous and accept almost any of the standard fish foods, from flake to live, then love it all. The male has a longer and more pointed dorsal fin. They are one of the easier Gouramies to breed. Once two have paired off, feed them a variety of foods and maintain good water. They are bubblenest builders and will lay thousands of eggs. So if you do plan on breeding, make sure you have the tank space to accomodate a few thousand.
